Vanessa Anne Hudgens was born December 14, 1988 in Salinas, California. She grew up in San Diego, and at 5″4, is 21 years old.

Yankees. Vanessa starred on the big screen in Thirteen , where she played Noel. Thirteen was
nominated for an Oscar in 2003! The following year, Vanessa started working on
Thunderbirds, which also came out in theaters.

Vanessa has guest-starred on Quintuplets, Still Standing, Cover
Me, The Brothers Garcia, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, and
Drake and Josh, as Drake’s girlfriend. But, her career
finally exploded when she starred in HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL as Gabriella Montez.
She and Zac Efron won the “Best Chemistry” Award at the 2006 Teen Choice
Awards! Vanessa has also appeared on swim wear commercials for Old
Navy!

In June 2006, she signed a recording contract with
Hollywood Records. Her album, “V”, was released in September
2006! She performed at the Cheetah Girls concert that traveled from coast to
coast and was a big hit. Just a few months later, Vanessa went on tour with her
buddies from HSM. Going nationwide, Vanessa has definitely wowed her
fans!

Vanessa got even bigger when the sequel to the HSM Phenomenon came out, High School Musical 2, Sing It All or Nothing! She has now admitted to dating co-star, 20 year old, Zac Efron. They are now considered “Zanessa” by their fans after being seen on a romantic trip to Hawaii in May of 07! She also recently signed on as a spokes model for Neutrogena and RED by Mark Ecko! On September 6, 2007, controversy erupted after nude photos of Vanessa surfaced online. A statement from her publicist claims that the photos were taken privately and it was “unfortunate” that they were released on the Internet. Hudgens later apologized, saying that she was “embarrassed over the situation” and regretted having “taken [those] photos”.[12] Disney Channel spokeswoman Patti McTeague indicated that Disney will still be working with Hudgens, stating, “Vanessa has apologized for what was obviously a lapse in judgment. We hope she’s learned a valuable lesson.”

No matter what, all of her fans will continue to support her in whatever she does and she handled the situation very well. It made many people respect her even more and she is a very strong women who has showed us, in the words of one of her BFF’S, Miley Cyrus, [a.k.a. Hannah Montana], Nobody’s Perfect!

In 2008, Vanessa released her 2nd album titled “Identified”, which really shows how much she has progressed since the first High School Musical. Vanessa also made it to the big screen October 24 of 2008 with “High School Musical 3: Senior Year”! It was a hit, a great way to end the trilogy! Moving on with her career, Vanessa filmed a movie outside of Disney with Aly Michalka, called “Bandslam” where she plays a much different character than Gabriella, which which was released in July 2009. She has another non-disney movie called Beastly coming out this summer. Beastly is sort of a modern Beauty in the Beast for the teen crowd. Nessa also has filmed a movie called Sucker Punch which is her first action movie with Zack Snyder, the director of Watchmen. It will be released in 2011. Can’t wait!

'High School Musical' Star Vanessa Hudgens Honored as ShoWest's "Star of Tomorrow"

More For those who have been tracking down the progress of High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens, you may like to list this one down. The 21-year-old actress has been named "Female Star of Tomorrow" by ShoWest recently, along with her Beastly co-star Alex Pettyfer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the two of them will be featured at the 2010 ShoWest gala. It's held to honor the industry's brightest stars, and in this case it's these two Beastly actors.

As male and female "Stars of Tomorrow" for this year, Hudgens and Pettyfer will be welcomed on March 18 for the gala. It will be the event closing the exhibition, held at Bally's and Paris hotels in Las Vegas.

Some of us may wonder why exactly these two snagged that award. Most High School Musical fans might even propose Zac Efron take on the male "Star of Tomorrow" title. But that's just not going to happen.

ShoWest managing director Robert Sunshine has pointed out that Alex Pettyfer and Vanessa Hudgens are "outstanding young talents" in Hollywood these days. While her boyfriend Efron might fall into that category as well, he just isn't as Beastly as the duo is.

Vanessa Hudgens, after gaining fame on High School Musical, starred on some movies right after. There was Bandslam and a voice acting gig on Robot Chicken, but so far Beastly is her most hyped project since. We think it won't be as big as the Disney franchise though.

Meanwhile, Alex Pettyfer is known for his roles on the British miniseries Tom Brown's Schooldays and on the movies Stormbreaker and Wild Child. The London-based model was also seen on 2009's Tormented.

Now that both of them are working on Beastly together, it looks like there may be something more to the film. Receiving the award from ShoWest might just lead to other projects, not to mention awards. We're not betting on any Oscars for either of them, but we'll see. Beastly premieres in theaters this July.
